Jody Wood Bio
Jody Wood studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts
where he received a scholarship from the Drama League and was the
recipient of the prestigious Charles Jehlinger Award for Acting.
Upon graduation, Jody began his journey
into the real world of show business by working in small NY theatres
continuing to hone his craft. Aside from his work in the theatre
some television roles started to trickle in on One Life to Live,
the Guiding Light and Another World as well as Law and Order. Jody
also spent these years as a member of The Groundlings East Improv
Comedy Troupe later becoming Gotham City Improv.
After writing and performing his one
man show Off Broadway, Jody headed out to Hollywood. Upon arrival
he began to work almost immediately with roles in such shows
as Brooklyn South, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Nothing Sacred,
Party of Five, JAG and 7th Heaven. From there he went on to guest
star opposite Dennis Franz in multiple episodes of N.Y.P.D Blue,
Dick Van Dyke in the recurring role of “James
Jurkowski” in Diagnosis Murder, and “Mr. Cameron” in
The West Wing opposite Rob Lowe. He also appeared with Tony
Danza in Family Law, Beau Bridges in The Agency, David Caruso in
CSI Miami and Noah Wylie in ER to name a few. Jody also appeared
alongside Russell Crowe in L.A Confidential, Marc Wahlberg in Boogie
Nights, and Samuel Jackson in Rules of Engagement. In addition
Jody has had recurring roles on The Bold and the Beautiful and
The Young and the Restless.
Jody is perhaps best known for his role
as Detective Wallace Danby in David E. Kelly’s “Boston
Public.”
In addition to his film and television
work, Jody has appeared in numerous commercials while providing
voice over in others. Mr. Wood has worked in every aspect of
the business from print to radio, to stage to film and television.
He now brings his extensive experience and love of the craft
to others both new to the art of performing to those “not
so new.”
Mr. Wood has been married to his wife
Sally, (whom he met at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts)
for 22 years and they have 2 children, Joe and Lucy. He is a
member of the Screen Actors Guild, the American Federation of
Television and Radio Artists, and Actor’s Equity Association.
